TEST DRIVE MEME

TEST DRIVE

Welcome to Visada's TDM! Feel free to get as creative as you'd like with these prompts. None of the threads will count as game canon. This is just to give you a chance to play around with the setting and get a general idea of just some of things that can be done in the game.

OPTION 1

Mistress Philenor, one of the vivacious butterfly-winged fairies that runs a shop in town, has asked you and another helpful soul to go out to the small lake on the northwestern side of the island and pick some Swallowtails. She needs a bushel of the flowers to make more of her popular aphrodisiacs.

You and your partner for the outing leave the village and make your way to your destination. The water in the lake is clear and fresh, you can almost see all the way to the bottom. A small island sits in the middle of the lake, within swimming distance to those so athletically inclined. A tiny stream travels off to the west, emptying into the sea.

On the southern shores of the lake grow the Swallowtails: great flowers of vibrant hues of blue.

Just remember Philenor's warning. Breathing too deeply of the pollen may have unintended consequences.

OPTION 2

Word arrives by lamassu post that there's unrest with the sea dragons. They're refusing to aid the villagers and transportation between the main island and the smaller one to the east has been cut off. People have been stranded there for two days now and something must be done.

You volunteer to help and head toward the eastern shore.

Maybe you meet others on your way and you decide to work together to see if you can resolve this. Maybe you enlist someone else's help when you learn that Lagiocrus (an ancient blue dragon) is cross with his nephew Jura (a young, free spirited green fellow who doesn't have much respect for people yet) over his foolish courtship of the princess Galzra (a haughty blue dragon from the far north).

All of the other dragons in the vicinity are too caught up in the drama to worry about the petty concerns of mortals.

Convince Lagiocrus that young love should triumph, or at least be allowed to get its heart broken. Talk up Jura to the disinterested object of his affection. Try to get Jura to see that there are other dragons in the sea. Or find some other way to either end the argument or lure the other dragons' interest back to helping out their landlocked neighbors.

OPTION 3

After a long week, you want nothing more than to relax at the beach. It's a great day for it. Fair skies, warm sands, calm surf, and naked bodies sunning themselves along the shore.

Wait.

Yes, that's right. This is a nude beach. Or if it wasn't, it is now that the first visitor decided to exchange bathing suit for birthday suit.

Do you join in? Ogle your neighbors? Swagger up to the hottie on the yellow towel a few yards away and start a conversation?

Have fun. Enjoy yourself. You've earned the day off.

OPTION 4

Wildcard! Make up your own prompt! Play around with the setting however you'd like.

[ They're really such lovely flowers. Niamh gathers a large bouquet's worth and, either without thinking or forgetting the warning that had been given them, presses her face in and inhales deeply. What a lovely aroma to match the lovely flowers.

Not wanting to get her bushel wet, she stays near the surface as she crosses back, one arm holding the flowers out of the water as the other paddles herself along. She steps out, white dress now transparent as it clings to her wet body.

Smiling fondly at her companion, she offers him all the flowers, save one. She would like to keep one for herself, she thinks. ]

Oh!

[He called out when he saw her bending to sniff the flowers, hands wringing together as he shifted from hoof to hoof. But she seemed no worse for wear and moved to make her way back to his side of the water with apparent ease. He took the flowers when she handed them to him, nose wrinkling a little at the enticing scent wafting up from them.]

We're not supposed to smell them. The faerie was quite clear on that, my dear. Why, what if something had happened?

[A mild scolding for her, but delivered out of concern as he fussed over the flowers, not begrudging her keeping one for herself. She had gone to get them, after all.]

[ He's a silly faun, not wanting to smell the flowers when they smell so lovely. In fact, she twirls her lone remaining flower in her fingers, sniffing it again. ]

Smells nice.

[ It's the first thing she's said all day. Her voice is light and happy, as though she hasn't a care in the world. That faerie must not have known what she was talking about, there's nothing wrong with smelling such sweet flowers. ]

I'm certain they do. She is using them to make potions, after all.

[Tumnus' nose was tickled a bit by the pollen, though he didn't lower his head to get a better whiff. He merely tucked the buds away from him a bit more, then gestured for them to leave. Her dress was thin enough that he felt it would dry as they walked.]

Be careful, my dear. You wouldn't want to wind up getting tippled by a flower.

[ Her wet dress in the windy air is making her cold, even in the light of the sun, and bringing goosebumps to her skin. And so it is that when she moves to leave, she huddles close to the warmth of her faun companion, sharing his space comfortably. ]

Tippled? [ She's never heard the word before. Her head tilts inquisitively and she looks up at him. ] What do you mean?

[He doesn't mind the proximity at all, happy to offer warmth if it's what she needs as she'd saved him the hassle of drenching his pelt. The question has him turning to give her a smile, head cocking a little in question.]

Like a heady wine, yes? Too much at a solstice or gathering and you wind up a little out of sorts. It's all well and good, of course, but still... The head you get the next day can be quite dreadful. I would imagine something meant to intoxicate the senses would have much the same effect.

[ Most of his words mean nothing to her. She's never strayed far enough from her stream to witness a rowdy gathering like he's describing. But eventually, she understands. Her eyebrows raise and she giggles. ]

Like the Men who come to drink!

[ The ones on wobbly feet who crash through the bushes to stand in the shade of the trees and relieve themselves in her waters. She does not like those men. Frowning she shakes her head. ]

No, not like that at all. [ The flowers are good, and happy, and make her feel warm inside, like the warmth of the faun at her side. He really should smell them, then he would understand. ]

You smell them. They smell good. [ He may hold his bushel far from his nose, but she brings her single flower up to her face and sniffs deeply of its aroma again. ]

Drinking does have a hand in tippling, yes. But the thing about having a head from wine is that one generally doesn't know one has one until afterwards.

[He moved a hand out to try to tap the flower down away from her nose.]

If the faerie advises against it, it's likely for a good reason.
