TEST DRIVE MEME
TEST DRIVE ![]() Welcome to Visada's TDM! Feel free to get as creative as you'd like with these prompts. None of the threads will count as game canon. This is just to give you a chance to play around with the setting and get a general idea of just some of things that can be done in the game. OPTION 1 Mistress Philenor, one of the vivacious butterfly-winged fairies that runs a shop in town, has asked you and another helpful soul to go out to the small lake on the northwestern side of the island and pick some Swallowtails. She needs a bushel of the flowers to make more of her popular aphrodisiacs. You and your partner for the outing leave the village and make your way to your destination. The water in the lake is clear and fresh, you can almost see all the way to the bottom. A small island sits in the middle of the lake, within swimming distance to those so athletically inclined. A tiny stream travels off to the west, emptying into the sea. On the southern shores of the lake grow the Swallowtails: great flowers of vibrant hues of blue. Just remember Philenor's warning. Breathing too deeply of the pollen may have unintended consequences. OPTION 2 Word arrives by lamassu post that there's unrest with the sea dragons. They're refusing to aid the villagers and transportation between the main island and the smaller one to the east has been cut off. People have been stranded there for two days now and something must be done. You volunteer to help and head toward the eastern shore. Maybe you meet others on your way and you decide to work together to see if you can resolve this. Maybe you enlist someone else's help when you learn that Lagiocrus (an ancient blue dragon) is cross with his nephew Jura (a young, free spirited green fellow who doesn't have much respect for people yet) over his foolish courtship of the princess Galzra (a haughty blue dragon from the far north). All of the other dragons in the vicinity are too caught up in the drama to worry about the petty concerns of mortals. Convince Lagiocrus that young love should triumph, or at least be allowed to get its heart broken. Talk up Jura to the disinterested object of his affection. Try to get Jura to see that there are other dragons in the sea. Or find some other way to either end the argument or lure the other dragons' interest back to helping out their landlocked neighbors. OPTION 3 After a long week, you want nothing more than to relax at the beach. It's a great day for it. Fair skies, warm sands, calm surf, and naked bodies sunning themselves along the shore. Wait. Yes, that's right. This is a nude beach. Or if it wasn't, it is now that the first visitor decided to exchange bathing suit for birthday suit. Do you join in? Ogle your neighbors? Swagger up to the hottie on the yellow towel a few yards away and start a conversation? Have fun. Enjoy yourself. You've earned the day off. OPTION 4 Wildcard! Make up your own prompt! Play around with the setting however you'd like. |

[ Meeting Mistress Philenor had been an experience.
This being said it was not the woman's statuesque figure or large, vibrantly colored wings that had given him pause – Kylo had traveled extensively over the course of his life, encountering all manner of creature, sentient or otherwise, and so this was no more remarkable to him than meeting any other alien race. Nor her request to retrieve the flowers, though he couldn't help but chafe at how he apparently couldn't be trusted to accomplish this task on his own. ]
Kriff, that woman could talk. [ He mutters, glancing back over his shoulder at the small shop, before cutting back to his companion. ]
TWO.
[ His decision to volunteer for this task had less to do with an interest in the political affairs of the sea dragons and more to do with a desire to explore. Since arriving, Kylo had done his best to familiarize himself with his new surroundings, as befit his training.
Of course, even he can't help but be a little bit awed by Lagriocus' presence. His finger itch for the weapon he'd been convinced – told – to leave behind, as he waits for the great serpent to speak. ]
ONE of course.
Their tenuous truce that they've agreed upon with one another is another surprise; it still manages to miraculously hold somehow, in the wake of ending up on this island together. Rey has seen enough inside his mind to know that he'd had to have been offered the incentive, the wish she's been told some of the other residents here had asked for in return for assisting the island's benefactors - but as far as what exactly the wish entails, she has no idea. He has somehow managed to hide that from her, somewhere in the recesses of his mind where he can actually restrict her access.
She shrugs his annoyance off, his frayed nerves sparking along the edges of her consciousness, and instead she shades her eyes and looks out over the lake as they approach it. ]
...You're irritated because you think this is something you could have done by yourself, aren't you. [ she ducks her head, squinting in the sunlight up at him. ] But we've been told these flowers are potent, and perhaps there needs to be two in the event that one of them falls prey to the effects of them. [ after all, why else would people be assigned partners for such a menial task?
Rey looks toward the south shore of the lake and points in the direction they're headed. ] I see them, I think. Over there - those tall willowy white ones.
WHAT NO DRAGON TRUE LOVE? I AM DISAPPOINT!
It wasn't full proof but for someone like Rey, who was all talent and little focus, it would be enough to trip her up. His reasons for coming here were nobody's business but his own.
He makes a soft, frustrated noise at her suggestion – sensible, obvious; he should have thought of it first – and turns, following the line of her finger toward the collection of flowers clustered together near the lake-shore. ]
No. They're supposed to be blue. [ Not much help, as descriptors went. The little he's seen of Visada so far, this could refer to any number of plants and flowers. Everything about the island was too vivid, too bright. It was more than a little surreal. ] I think those might be some sort of lily.
maybe next time ;)
[ Her attention is drawn again to the stately white flowers she'd seen; they look similar to ones she'd seen growing along Maz Kanata's castle, on Takodana. ] You think that's a lily, then? Like Nova lilies?
[ Jakku being the dearth of flora as it had been, Rey is suddenly rather transfixed by just how many species this island boasts and she cocks her head fondly at them. ] ...They're beautiful.
feel the power of his eyeroll
Nova's are generally brighter. Those are more like Sunpetals. [ The color still wasn't quite right but other than that there was a surprisingly strong resemblance. ]
Come on. [ He won't stoop toward outright nudging, because they aren't children, but his impatience is clear. She could gape all she liked on her own time, they had a job to do. ] I'd rather not try to find my way back once it's dark.
/tugs on his ear
...I had no idea that a comprehensive understanding of botany was part of the intense training undergone by the dark Knights of Ren.
[ she's half-serious, even. ]
/swats
Alchemy is one of the core tenets of training, and of healing, or did you think that the Masters of Old just happened to trip over that knowledge one day, during their meditation?
/pinches!!
I don't pretend to know everything. I'm not even an initiate, [ she concedes grudgingly, because if she hadn't come here to this island, she most likely would have been one under Master Luke's tutelage, by now. ]
So, no, I don't know anything about alchemy, or healing using the Force. [ But it would be extremely valuable to learn such things, she thinks.
As it happens, neither of them are particularly watching where they're walking as they get closer to the shoreline. ] You don't have to be quite so smug and superior, about it.
/yells!!!! D:
With a sharp, startled curse, Kylo Ren, Master of the Knights of Ren, falls backward, landing in an undignified heap of tangled robes. ]
Sithspit.

Rey, for the moment, can only stare in amazement before she covers her mouth to stop herself from laughing outright; that definitely won't do and in fact would only anger him more so she leans down, brushing some suspiciously blue and wonderfully fragrant flowers from his mussed-up dark hair, before extending him a hand to help him up. ]
Are you alright? Those boots are obviously not designed for this kind of terrain. You should get some new ones.
[ And just as she says it, she sneezes — pollen, from the tangle of multi-colored flowers he's landed in. She glances at him, covers her nose apologetically.
...And then her eyes widen and pupils dilate, because she's suddenly feeling a bit of vertigo. ]
no subject
Surprisingly it wasn't top of my priority list upon arrival.
[ No, he'd had far more immediate and pressing concerns, dragging himself back to his bungalow we're he'd slept for what had seemed like days.
Kylo pulls himself into an upright position, ignoring her offer of a hand in favor of working his boot free from the shallow pool it had gotten caught in. The pain in his ankle is a low, vicious pulse. ]
Fantastic. [ Teeth gritting as he removes the boot, setting it back beside him only to be interrupted by the sound of Rey's sneeze. He pulls a face, disgusted, drawing away from her. ]
If you infect me with whatever plague you're carrying, I'll kill you, damn this place and everyone in it.
no subject
Ren's reaction, though, has her chafing. ] — I'm not carrying a plague! I sneezed because of something I inhaled, it's not because I'm sick, damn you —
[ and then stubbornly, despite her own dizziness, she leans down into him trying to check the condition of his ankle injury; she can feel the ache of it radiating on the periphery of his senses and hers. But she leans a bit too close, and with her depth perception skewed she ends up clambering clumsily into his lap as he sits on the ground. ] — ow!

His hands come up automatically to steady her and to keep her wriggling to a minimum.
Fingers dig into her hips - sharper then he'd have thought, though there's a noticeable roundness to them now that would suggest someone's been feeding her regularly. ]
Damn it, would you hold still. [ The pain of his injury seems briefly forgotten in the wake of this new, more pressing irritation. ] Rey, I mean it.
no subject
[ She seems to be conveniently forgetting that it's she who's fallen on top of him, and instead of obeying him and holding still Rey squirms harder, attempting to wrestle herself free.
But his fingers are digging into her hips something fierce, compounding the dizziness she's experiencing, and in the midst of trying to pry herself away with her hands at his shoulders, she ends up pushing his back to the ground, instead. ]
no subject
Kriff it Rey. What in the name of kark do you think you're doing? [ Confusion, exasperation and concern are in a cage match with concern slowly winning out. This is -- well, it's unlike her. The little he knows of her. ]
no subject
What're you doing?! I told you to get off —
[ Despite her command she's wrapping her legs around his lower half almost vise-like, trying to get leverage to roll them both over again so that she's not underneath him, but it doesn't have quite the effect she'd intended it to have. Instead it draws him closer so that most of his weight rests on her, their hips aligned tightly.
And then she snaps at him, angrily: ] It's just like you to be more concerned about yourself than someone who was just trying to help you!
no subject
Immobilize, evaluate then act. Just like his training dictated. ] -- was this meant to be helping me?

Dryly, as she continues to walk, ]
Would rather her talk too much than say too little.
[ Especially in a land she was still getting used to. ]

Eventually. ]
Evenso two hours is a long time for what essentially boils down to: blue flowers somewhere on the Southern shores.
[ The very least she could have done was be more specific. How large, what shape? Would it be near the shore or closer to the water? These were the sorts of details they could use. ]
no subject
[ That's a very important point, Kylo. Natasha isn't about to forget it. But she adds, almost a little nonchalantly, ]
And we only have to worry if there is more than one kind of blue flower along the shore.
no subject
[ There's almost a wryness to the words, a humor. This entire situation has gone so far beyond the point of ridiculousness as to be almost baffling. ]
How could I forget?
[ Except that it should really be obvious. Strange new world with unfamiliar flora and fauna? Be sure to handle with care lest you inadvertently do something foolish like poison yourself. ]
And given what you know of this place what do you fancy our chances are?
no subject
Anywhere from fifty-fifty to two-to-one. Remember: magic.
[ She even lifts her hand up to wiggle her fingers in his general direction. As if the word needed further emphasis. ]

[ That little display seems to suggest otherwise, but then there are people - Hux immediately springs to mind - that are able to maintain that (not so) gentle skepticism in the face of even bare-faced truth.
And perhaps he's curious. They've a ways to go until they reach the lake, after all. ]
no subject
No, I believe it. I know it exists and is real even outside of this world. I just find some of it ridiculous.
[ And other parts of it are actually a bit scary to her. ]
no subject
How refreshing.
